Giving Back to the Community
On the Cinco de Mayo 2011 the exhibit Unidos Por la Causa opened at the Logan Heights Library with mariachi music and ballet folkorico. We want to thank everyone who donated funds to make this possible, especially those who attended our fund raisers during theyear.
Historic Resource Award
On May 26th 2011 the City of San Diego's Historic Resource Committee awarded the Chicana/o Archive Project a special award in recognition of the work that has been done the past year. Rob Ray, Director of the Achive and Ricardo Griswold del Castillo, chair of the committee accepted the award on behalf of the group.
Opening Reception of Exhibit, "Unidos por la Raza"
On October 16, 2010 we held a reception to honor the donors and contributors to the Chicana/o Archive Project at SDSU. More than 150 people attended with a mariachi, food and an excellent short talk by Martin Gomez, Director of the Los Angeles Public Library. Attendees saw the exhibit "Unidios por la Causa: the Chicano Movement in San Diego" and saw slides of some of the collections holdings.
